I make books

The handmade Coptic book is one of the earliest structures in binding dating back the second century AD to the eleventh century. A Coptic binding is able to open 360°. Each book is hand-stitched with waxed linen thread. Book covers are painted "paste papers" made of wheat paste and acrylic paints. The inside end papers are handmade. Each journal is acid free, of archival quality, original, and one-of-a-kind.

Robin Brandes is an award-winning graphic designer with over 30 years experience dedicated to creating inspiring visual communications for print and web. She completed the Bookbinding Core Certificate Program at the San Francisco Center for the Book. Her books have been featured in the Annual Hand Bookbinders of California Member Exhibition in San Francisco, California.
